“Never have I enjoyed a more beautiful home.  It has been nearly seven years since Kieran completed the project and there is not a single thing that I would change.  Every day, and I do mean every day, I feel joy and gratitude for the perfection of our home, the pleasure is real.  So is the perfection – I do not use empty words!  Kieran is an Irish Master Builder, and his work makes clear what that means.

Each room is a work of art in itself. The outstanding quality of the cherry woodwork, especially the shelves in the library and the extensive woodwork in the bedroom, with the many paneled doors and built – ins, the winding stairs leading to the loft – bedroom, must be seen on-site to be fully appreciated. All of the windows in the old house were replaced, all the interior walls except in the kitchen and laundry were removed, furred out to allow better insulation and redone, Brazilian rosewood floors installed throughout.  All the new trim, paneled doors and the like were built of rough cherry lumber, planed and glued up on site.  New foundations were dug in the crawl – space under the house and concrete poured to support the addition of an entire new story.

Kieran’s flexibility and creativity, supported by our architect and the consulting engineer, allowed us to make major changes during the process of construction such as the addition of the tower above the dining nook we added to the kitchen and the sweeping stair to what was originally planned to be a mere loft, but which became a delightful additional bedroom above my upstairs office.

One area that impressed me greatly was the detail and accuracy of Billie’s accounting and the clarity of the regular progress reports.  Even though we kept adding new ideas and changing details, the accounting was always precise and fully backed with all the necessary supporting documents.

In short, I would recommend Kieran and Blackthorn with absolute confidence for any project, large or small. Victoria and I are more than satisfied, we are enthusiastic about our home and about every aspect of our experience in its construction!  ~ Frederick (Ted) and Victoria Steinhardt
